India intends to increase its polymer capacity significantly through 2024 and beyond. The new 1.2 million mt/year PE capacity of HPCL-Mittal Energy became operational in 2023. The 1 million mt/year PE and 1.2 million mt/year PP at HPCL’s Rajasthan Refinery are expected to be completed in 2024, while company sources indicate that Nayara Energy’s new 440,000–450,000 mt/year PP plant in Vadinar is anticipated to begin operations in 2024. In 2025, additional capacities, such as GAIL’s PP line in Usar, are also anticipated.
