Uganda wildlife resources are important for national development. They provide a source for ecosystem services that serve economic, cultural, aesthetics and ecological functions. However, there is no substantive evidence to pin down the number and health status or wildlife species in Uganda. Various reports on wildlife populations have been contradictory. On one hand reporting that the wildlife populations are increasing, on the other hand reducing and others claiming that the conservation status of quite a number of species is data deficient which makes it difficult for their conservation status to be established.
